VM freezes when opening any explorer related programs

Hello together,

I hope someone has a hint for me, how to proceed and fix this issue.

General Information ESX host:

ESX 2.5.1 build version 14182

8 GB RAM

3 NICs

2 MP Xen Procs (IBM x246)

SCSI Storage enclosure 1 TB

General Information VM:

Windows 2003 Standard VM SP2

1,5 GB RAM

1 vCPU

2 vmdk files attached

Fileserver Service

Issue:

The VM will freeze as soon as a user is opening an explorer window or diskmgmt.mmc. The full VM gets unresponsive in the VC Console and from the network.

I couldn't find any errors in the logs on the ESX host, but I could find some errors in the VM log (tail output from the vmware.log)

So any hint about the further investigation would be helpful and any tip to solve the issue more than welcome.

Thanks for your comments

Carsten
